Title: "Convento and Gourds #2" - Magnificent Mission San José de Tumacácori! There are more Spanish colonial missions south of the border, but this one just north of Nogales Arizona is one of the most charming. The mission church structure in the left background of this image is actually not the original, which was in a slightly different place. However this building has much history and was in dire straights of neglect before restoration in the early 20th century. The convento ruins in the right background originally functioned as a community workspace. An ocotillo ramada and gourd implements fill the right foreground, and on the left is a traditional O'Odham native American "ki" structure.
